Steward Observatory

The original Steward Observatory lies on the east side of Cherry Avenue and contains a five-story addition to the original structure, completed in 1984. Its 36-inch reflector telescope was moved to Kitt Peak in 1963. Steward Observatory is named in honor of the husband of donor Lavinia Steward of Tucson. The National Optical Astronomy Observatories headquarters are in the building across Cherry Avenue from the Observatory.
