The McKale Memorial Center is home to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The 14,000 seat arena is named in honor of J.F. 'Pops' McKale, former director of athletics. A new addition has recently been completed along the north side of McKale which houses a 10,000 square foot Strength and Conditioning Facility and Heritage Center.The Athletic Heritage Center contains 9,000 sq. ft. of floor space and, at its center beneath a ceiling 30 feet high, a Hall of Fame mezzanine for special events. The Heritage Center presents to the mall a face entirely of glass. The Center will feature display cases for each of the University's intercollegiate sports and numerous other displays centered on outstanding student-athletes, performances, events, tradition and spirit-related topics from more than 100 years of UA Athletics. University commencements are also held in the McKale Center.McKale Sports Stop, part of the UofA Bookstores, is located at street-level on the south end of McKale and offers UA sportswear and merchandise to both students and fans.
